Bags for gala day

This term is our gala day. My class the amazing Hauraki  have been making tote bags. To reduce  the plastic bag usage. During this process we were learning how to screen print and sew. We as well learnt how to make pockets and sew different fabrics together .
If you would like to learn how to make tote bags here some instructions. you will need 
Calico 
A sewing machine
Some straps 
Pins 
Iron .
(the non screen printed one) 
1. Gets some calico and cut 2 pieces to the size you want.
2. Pin them together and leave 1 side open 
3. Sow  the pinned sides and pull the the pins out as you go 
4. Iron it 
5. Cut your straps 70cm each .
6.Pin you starps to your bags.
7. Sow a square and do that again x4 
8. Iron it 1 more time .
You have just made your first bag .

You will need 
Ink
Squeegee 
Screen 
1 piece of Calico 
Newspaper
3 Friends 
1. Put newspaper on your surface and put you piece of clico 
on top.
2. Put screen on top of you calico and put a bit of ink on you screen 
3. make your freinds  hold down the screen hard.
4. Hold your squeegee at a 360 degree angle 
5. Pull squeegee hard across screen you have just made your frist screen print .

                                             I found this work hard because I sew the bag in a twist.
                                I thought before that working a sewing machine was hard now I find it easy .
