  2. Hi Jasmine

Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team, reading your blog from Canada. The tundra is found in the northern region of our country and it is a huge area that very few people travel through.

Our first nations people who live there are called Inuit, or 'the people'. They have developed great resiliency in order to live in such a cold, harsh climate. I admire them tremendously!!!

Your letter is super. I'm sure that I would get tired of freeze-dried food too if I were travelling for days through the tundra. My husband has done some northern trips and, though he never minds the food, he finds the biggest challenge is the bugs that swarm all summer long. The summer in the tundra is very brief but, while it last, the bugs are incredibly difficult to deal with.

You're right, too, that drinking water can be an issue. One has to melt snow most often in order to have enough to drink. That takes time and a good stove.

I loved your letter. Keep up your good work on these activities. I'll keep reading your blog.

    Cheers,

    Leslie
