Week 1 day 3 Activity 3

Hey bloggers . For the summer learning journey we had to lean about the WWF. We had to name some animals that they are saving and what they are doing to help the animals and have they had any success helping the animals . So they are saving Fresh water seals , tigers and pandas. they are building new habitats for them and are raising awareness. Yes they have saved animals like the Gray whale and mountain gorilla.
Hope you enjoyed. Feel free to comment. Blog you later.

  1. Hi Jasmine,

It's Leslie here, writing to you from Canada as a member of the Summer Learning Journey team. I'm so glad that you started right into the program as soon as you were on school holidays. Good for you!!

Isn't the WWF a great organization? They're working to protect so many many animals that are facing extinction. I admire and support the work they're doing.

You've done a good job listing some of the animals they are trying to save. And you're correct that they are really raising awareness about the dangers these animals face from pollution, loss of habitat, poaching (which means that people are illegally catching or killing them in order to make money), and tourism. Fortunately the WWF has had some good successes but there's lots more to be done.

Would you be interested in working for an organization like the WWF? Are you a keen science student?

My husband and I are members of a naturalists club in our small town and our club members participate in all kinds of 'citizen science' studies. This means that we participate in bird counts in the winter to check that the bird populations are in healthy numbers. We do studies of our lakes and streams to see how the fish populations and water-bird populations are doing etc.

Perhaps you have this kind of organization/club where you live and someday you might want to help with this kind of work.

I hope you're enjoying your summer holidays and that you're getting to spend lots of time in the out-of-doors being active!!

    I'll continue reading your blog.

    Cheers,

    Leslie
